Marcello Ziliani A Collaborative Vision

A Collaborative
Vision

Scope: Advertisement, Creative Direction & AI-Enhanced Production

Outcome: High active engagement during Milan Design Week 2026

As Milan Design Week 2026 approached, Marcello Ziliani — a Brescia-based product designer and architect who trained under Achille Castiglioni at Politecnico di Milano, and whose work spans more than three decades of collaborations with some of Europe's most respected manufacturers — chose to present five distinct furniture collections across multiple products, each produced in partnership with a different studio. The work was characteristically his: thoughtful, materially conscious, and rooted in a design philosophy that places listening above assertion. Our challenge was not to document five collections. It was to find the single language that made them one engaging statement.

Brand Strategy

Marcello Ziliani’s practice is built on collaboration. Not as a methodology, but as a philosophy, a genuine belief that the best design emerges from dialogue between designer, manufacturer, material, and user. Five collections, five manufacturing partners, five distinct aesthetic conversations.

The strategic question was not how to present each collection, but how to honour the intelligence that connected them. Our answer was to make collaboration itself the campaign’s subject. Rather than showcasing a portfolio, the advertisement would illuminate a philosophy, positioning Ziliani not as a producer of objects, but as a thinker whose work is always in dialogue with the world around it.

For European clients, strategy clarity and execution reliability are not differentiators; they are the baseline expectation. We delivered both, from vision to implementation, in under three weeks, across time zones, and despite Easter holidays on both sides.

Creative Direction

The visual language was built to carry that philosophy without stating it. A warm greyscale palette was chosen to unify the five collections under a single aesthetic register, stripping away colour as a differentiating variable and allowing form, proportion, and material logic to speak. Ziliani’s own visual identity. His brand typefaces and brand colours were reintroduced through label cards, ensuring the advertisement felt authored rather than produced.

The video was structured to loop seamlessly: Ziliani’s philosophy as both hook and conclusion, so that the end of the advertisement is also its beginning. A structural metaphor for collaboration itself.

AI-Enhanced Production

The asset base for the campaign was diverse: product photography, technical renders of collections not yet in physical production, and video footage, all requiring a coherent visual treatment across very different source materials. The production challenge was precise: how to make the not-yet-real feel entirely present.

AI-enhanced production was the instrument that made this possible at the pace the project demanded. Working from technical renders, the team used AI generation to simulate physical reality, producing hyperrealistic product visualisations that carried the weight, texture, and material presence of objects that had not yet been manufactured. These were then extended into lifestyle sequences: contextualised environments and user experiences designed to create emotional engagement rather than mere product awareness.

The warm greyscale aesthetic was maintained consistently across stills, renders, and motion, ensuring that the imagined and the tangible occupied the same visual world. The result was a film that moved between the two without a visible seam.

Campaign Media Strategy & Outcome

The advertisement was published collaboratively across Scion Strategies’ and Marcello Ziliani’s channels on multiple platforms, timed to coincide with the opening of Milan Design Week 2026; one of the most content-saturated weeks in the global design calendar, when every major brand, studio, and manufacturer competes for the same audience simultaneously. In that environment, organic reach is the hardest metric to earn. The campaign generated 122K views and 98 active interactions, a result that reflects the quality of the content and genuine engagement rather than passive reach.
